That is a damn good question. It's highly possible he could have gotten away with it, but not because he's rich, white, and old. More than likely, a few could have let him sample because they didn't want to lose their job after refusing.

Honestly, it's a tough call. While low-lives like O'Reilly can get away with things like this.....I am not sure if he did. There is something about his demeanor that just skeeves lots of women out, not to mention the recent news stories regarding him assaulting his wife. Also, attitudes have changed in recent years regarding sexual harassment in the workplace. 95% of women I know would shut that shit down straightaway and go right to HR.

In Italy, there is a good one word answer for your question. They would just say "Boh?!" which means "We have no clue, and likely will never know for sure"

I certainly hope you're right. As a father of 2 daughters, the behavior sickens me. And as a Republican, I appreciated it when ol' Slick Willy was the King of harassment. ;)

This could well be the case. Not so much for the severance pay/save face aspect, but because of the timing of the whole thing. Murdoch and his kid are trying to buy the remaining shares of a British network they already partially own. Many in the UK are not okay with this after the phone hacking scandal a couple of years ago. Check this out:

Firing him could be a temporary thing, and they could hire him back on in a couple of years when their ratings go to crap.

    Duly noted.

It should be pointed out that not every member of the Monger Hall of Fame got in on the first year's eligibility, and even a rarer few had a 100 percent vote in favor.

A good Entertainment contract has a number of clauses in it. Two relevant here involve a morals clause and an exit clause. As Fox is not saying this is a "morals" issue, while his behavior is odious, they (Fox) tolerated it to the tune of paying $12-13 million dollars so legally there's no moral issues in terms of his contract. Then it's simply a matter of what his Exit or Parachute Clause is. The fact Fox was the one who called the shot, means Bill likely has a big payday coming to him. He was making $20 million annually and with a net worth of $85 million estimated, Bill is still living the Life of O'Reilly ( those older than 60 will get that inside joke).

While O'Reilly is a hideous fellow, it's clear that lib media now lives by the adage of, 'if you can't beat 'em, take 'em down'

$25 million is his walk away money. Not too bad a severance.

I personally liked his show, but sexual harassment is not tolerated as much as it used to be with women, and rightfully so, since most women don't want to be preyed upon sexually. For those women and men who want to be preyed upon, it's obviously not harassment then - it's a mutual flirting. He was a smart guy and should have known his bad behavior would hurt him eventually and that all his money and power can't buy everyone. His show wasn't "zoned" for spinners and sinners. ;)

  11. Tucker Carlson (who has gotten beat by Rachel Maddow in the 9 PM slot) moves to 8 PM where he will probably have no issue crushing Chris Hayes although not by as wide a margin as O'Reilly did followed by "The Five" at 9:00 PM which is being moved from 5 to 9. That is a good move as people are mostly coming home from work at that time so no one really watches "The Five" thus a move will be great. Sean Hannity's show remains live at 10:00 PM.

Bill O'Reilly starts his new life today doing podcasts at 8pm. It's pay-for-view but it's possible his audience may follow him ... if they can figure out how to turn on the computer and how to find him on it.

exactly...why lisa bloom is all over cable smiling like the cat that ate the mouse...why the whole thing turned into an orchestrated mass movement...and the semi-national rejoicing akin to the house falling on the wicked witch of OZ after his decapitation...because he's a mirror image of his milkshake sipping bud, they're two of a kind...we've all worked with people like them...over bearing, egomaniacal blowhards...know-it-alls who consider themselves god's gift to the human race (and irresistible chick magnets)...huffing puffing and glowering specialists particularly fond of moving into your space and poking stubby fingers in your face...comeuppance is a marvelous thing to watch...even when it's too late and rendered meaningless by a massive payout...ailes and billo are laughing all the way to the bank...as will the trumpster...his time is coming too, if he doesn't blow us to smithereens first...

  14. Rush Limbaugh has Rush 24/7, Glenn Beck has The Blaze Premium, Mark Levin has CRTV, etc. Bill will get a lot of money from this. His radio show was not a success however.
