Marriage Equality Wins

    The Supreme Court ruled Friday that state gay-marriage bans are unconstitutional. The high court's 5-to-4 decision means same-sex marriages may be performed and recognized in all states. Gay marriage is now legal in 37 states. It is banned in 13 states including Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee, whose prohibitions were at the heart of the Supreme Court case.

    A gr8 news for all the lovers. A win for all the humans.

    The court decided the way most Americans feel about the issue. Yes, some religious individuals will disagree but for today, love prevailed. Politically, the Right should let this one slide too as people dont want to be told who they can and cannot love legally or otherwise.

    The "holier-than-thou" know-it-alls in this country need to learn to mind their own fucking business!

    They have every right to believe what they wish. What they don't have is a right to impose their beliefs on others.

    For the life of me I will never understand why this was ever an issue. Sure, religions in their usual idiocy (and typical cruel, inflammtory and backwards ways) can define religion however they want. They can insist that only seals can marry walrusses or spinners can only marry fat, old, ugly middle aged white guys (yeah yeah) or whatver the fuck they want....

    But govt bans on same sex "marriage" (or whatever word is used to mean full legal rights and obligations between humans?!?!?!?) WTF?

    As an aside, to the gays who may now run out and get married....careful what you wish for....marriage is not for everyone, no matter who/what you like to fuck....

    As usual, Scalia is right. This is an issue that should have been resolved in the state legislatures. By focusing on the federal courts instead of the state legislatures, gay activists were able to gain their objective more quickly, but at the cost of all of our freedoms.

    From the 14th Amendment:

    "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

    That's what it comes down to. The laws have to be applied equally.

    That's what the Southern states said about the slavery issue. Let the states decide. The Supreme Court decided that this was a U.S. Constitution issue and I agree.

    This issue had to settled on a federal level. 37 states already ruled in favor but the question posed was what would happen if a married couple moved to or was traveling to a state that failed to recognize their union. Think of it similar to being 16 and having a ddriver's license and then getting into an accident in a state where you needed to be 17 or 18 to drive. Laws must have some consistency to work. Moreover, in this case the most important element is that its time has come as it's just is right. Let's not complicate things as history has spoken and another barrier has been broken.

    The bible says divorce is wrong yet people do it. The bible says if you have kids (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) and they misbehave you have to stone them because the LORD says to do this. If a woman gets raped (Deuteronomy 22:28-29) once again the LORD says she HAS to marry the man who raped her no exceptions. If a person gets drunk the bible says this person will not be allowed into heaven. If a person gets an abortion they will not be allowed into heaven either.

    Yet SOMEHOW out of ALL the sinners that are listed in the bible according to you gay people are the only ones in the wrong here. Do you see the hypocrite within you now? Because if you don't I suggest you take a look in the mirror and get some glasses. People may not be perfect but for the love of God if you believe in Jesus you believe that he died for ALL the sinners so stop preaching your religious bulls**t to gay people as if gay people are the only sinners who exist in the world. No one here is perfect. Not me and certainly not you so please take your religion and go elsewhere because even I as a Christian know just how bad and foolish you make us all look. With that said #lovewins

    1) Equal protection under the law. What's so complicated about that?
    2) I am a straight person who has fucked up two marriages. How can gay people fuck up this "sacred institution" any worse?
